Baker's Wells

This aerial photograph of 1935 clearly shows the site of the original Baker's Wells, situated just above the rocky coastline. The later reservoirs, situated just below the West Bank golf course, were constructed between 1898 and 1901. Note the location of the reservoirs in relation to the West Bank cemetery, which caused a great deal of distress lest dangerous bacteria from decaying bodies percolated into the drinking water.
